Fayetteville has many
amenities, including the University of Arkansas, home of the
Razorbacks. The Walden Arts Center hosts concerts and plays as well as
being the home of the Northwest Arkansas Symphony Orchestra. There are
five hospitals, a large library, nearly 100 churches, a youth center,
4 golf courses and over 3,000 acres of community parks and
recreational complexes, including three fishing lakes.
Northwest Arkansas has an
exceptional education system with many opportunities and special
programs. For higher education, we have the University of
Arkansas and Southern Technical College.

In addition, there
are two vocational schools. In Fayetteville we have 2 high
schools, 2 junior high schools, 8 elementary schools and 3
private schools. Springdale school system has 1 high school, 2
junior high, 2 middle schools and 9 elementary schools.I
n Washington County the towns of
Elkins, Farmington, Greenland, Lincoln, Prairie Grove, West Fork and
Winslow have independent school districts offering kindergarten
through 12th grade. There is a wide range of sizes to choose from
with programs to meet your special needs.
Fayetteville is the center
for health care in northwest Arkansas. There are five hospitals
with 574 beds, including the Washington Regional Medical Center
and a Veterans Administration Hospital. There are three nursing
homes with 439 beds and 32 clinics. There are an ample number of
doctors in a wide range of specialties to serve your needs.
Ambulance service in Washington County is provided by Central
EMS from five ambulance stations. The rural fire departments
respond to accidents and medical emergencies with first
responders and emergency medical technicians. Wherever you are,
medical help is only minutes away.
Agriculture in northwest Arkansas is centered around the poultry
industry with many growers of turkey for the table and chicken for
meat and eggs. There are many large cattle ranches in the area
providing beef and dairy products. There are a few small growers of
sheep, goats, pigs and rabbits. On the exotic side, there are several
local growers of ostriches, emus and llamas.
Apples are a major crop
in the area with Lincoln hosting the annual apple festival. Tontitown
is a center for growing grapes and hosts an annual grape festival.
Other crops grown locally include strawberries, blueberries and
